ORIGINS OF THOUGHTS FROM A FARAWAY PLACE

‘Thoughts from a Faraway Place began its life as an accident. Six years ago, J started a Newsletter for clients and families of Meadow Court, a Supported Living unit I manage for people with mental health/learning disabilities. The newsletter had lots of pictures showing what clients were doing in every month’s newsletter. Clients, social workers and relatives were given copies of the Newsletter.

On the second edition of the newsletter, I  did not have enough photos and information to fill the last page, so I wrote an eight line poem about an event that happened at Meadow Court, called Apexed Out. That was about a client day out at a park in Bridgwater. It was short and simple. However after 4 years of publishing the Newsletter, I amassed 176 individual stories in  verse, what I call Proetry, a mixture of Prose and Poetry. Usually amusing, sometimes thoughtful, some about people who have been involved in his life, and some putting the world to rights!

A second book of ‘Thoughts from a Faraway Place’ is nearing completion.
